  2. I have photographs and important documents that I want to preserve for the future.  What steps should I take to begin the process of photo preservation?
Start by sorting your photos to the most important photographs.  These are your priority to digitally scan for the future.  The remaining photos go into years of life.  To simply, pick no more than 50 per year.  Look for faces, places, and traces.  In other words, easy identifiers with you look at the photo.  Make notes on the back of the photos for reference of these faces, places, traces.  After sorting the priorities, decide whether to have a professional company digitize your photos or purchase a scanning printer to digitally scan your own at a minimum 300dpi.  Photo organizing organization partners can be hired to do all this for you for a fee.
